The professional knife shop is opened in Toronto, Canada.

[2010.06.10]

IMG_0462.JPGWe are going to announce one special shop in Toronto. The store is called KNIFE. It is run by Mr. Eugene Ong.

He has dedicated his life to work as a cook for 10 years and now he uses his know-how of cooking skill to spread the use and care of Japanese blades to other professional chefs and knife enthusiasts by providing kitchen knives he selected carefully. He can also provide a sharpening service to educate knife novice or chefs who want to develop their skills. We rely on his concept and business model. We hope we can grow our brand gradually with his shop in Toronto.

Here is his comment.

"The knife is the most important tool in the kitchen and therefore should be treated with proper care and respect".

Phoenix Knife House in Arizona

[2010.06.08]

  logo12.png

I would like to introduce you to an upscale specialty knife shop named the Phoenix Knife House, which carries our kitchen knives. The shop, located in Scottsdale Arizona, is owned by Mr. Eytan Zias who has a lot of expertise with knives and cooking.
The Knife House has developed greatly since its launching in 2006 due to the fact that they not only sell knives but also educate, hand sharpen, and offer support to the culinary community.
I would like to show you a sampling of newspaper articles about Mr. Zias and his store so you may judge for yourselves.
We are honored to have our knives sold at this establishment.

The Ambiente Expo in Frankfurt, Germany

[2010.04.27]

IMG_3024.jpg IMG_3062.jpg

This year the MCUSTA team attended the Ambiente Expo from February 12th to 16th at the Messe conference center in Frankfurt, Germany. Ambiente is a truly huge trade show, with tens of thousands of exhibitors from across the world gathered together in 11 hangar-sized conference halls. We had never seen such a spectacular trade show.

The MCUSTA display area was located in the Seki City booth, along with five other knife makers from our hometown. The booth was decorated in the “JINYA” style to give it a traditional Japanese feel.
The Ambiente show ran for five days, and we were very happy with the feedback we received from visitors, who were particularly drawn in by our exclusive handle designs. It was also very rewarding to hear people talking about Japanese knives and their growing worldwide reputation.
Our first priority is to get the ZANMAI name out into the market, and if the Ambiente show was any indication we are headed in the right direction. We plan to keep growing our brand, slowly but surely, and we look forward to attending Ambiente again next year.

The 2010 International Home + Houseware Show in Chicago

[2010.04.14]

IMG_3283.jpgThis was our first appearance at the International Home + Houseware Show, held at the McCormick Place convention center in Chicago from March 14th to 16th. The scale of the show was huge, with crowds of exhibitors and customers contributing to the energy.

Our booth’s motif was a traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony. We used red and black colors to highlight our concept, and hung an authentic Japanese paper umbrella for added effect. To complete the scene, our president (in town from Japan) gave hand-sharpening demonstrations for knife aficionados and novices alike.
As it was our first time in Chicago we felt we needed to do something special, so we took the occasion to launch our brand new ZANMAI PRO and MCUSTA PRO lines for the North American market. Without a doubt the crowd favorite was our Quince handle ZANMAI PRO series.
This year’s IHHS in Chicago was a big moment for us. We couldn’t be happier with the response, and we can’t wait for next year!

Our Montreal distributor's new retail outlet featured in the press

[2009.11.05]

We are very proud of our Montreal distributor's new specialty retail shop for HOCHO kitchen knives, which was just featured in the local newspaper, the Montreal Gazette.
Our distributor, Mr. Guillaume De L'isle, has operated a growing sharpening and distribution business, L'Émouleur, for the past few years and has just launched his first specialty shop in the trendy shopping district on Laurier Avenue.

L'Émouleur is an old French word meaning "the sharpener", and, as might be expected, Guillaume offers unparalleled after-sales service including hand sharpening.

He is always ready to share his enthusiasm for HOCHO knives and his knife sharpening expertise with clients, so if you are in the Montreal area please stop in to chat or simply to admire the beautiful HOCHO knives on display.

Blade Show West in Portland Oregon

[2009.09.15]

Once again this year we exhibited our products at the Blade Show West in Portland, Oregon from September 18th to 20th at the Monarch Hotel.

Even though we had fewer visitors this year, most probably due to the current economic slowdown, we were very pleased with the response to our MCUSTA knives and NEVANON scissors.

We are looking to expand our presence in the North American scissor market, as there is clearly a demand for high quality products.

The general atmosphere was relaxed and friendly, and it is always a great pleasure to exhibit in our hometown.

Of course we are looking forward to next year's show, and we hope the economic climate will be better so that Portland's Blade show keeps growing for many years to come.

The Gourmet Houseware Show in San Francisco

[2009.08.26]

info1.jpg

We took part in the 2009 edition of The Gourmet Houseware Show held in San Francisco, August 9 - 11.

We decorated our booth with traditional Japanese images, and the feedback from visitors was very positive.
All our staff wore Kimonos, served Japanese tea and put on a HOCHO sharpening demonstration for our visitors' viewing pleasure.

We were very happy with the reception our products got, and this show encouraged us to continue promoting our products and growing our brand.

And the fact that we were the only Japanese manufacturer in attendance made us feel very proud.
