What does ZANMAI mean?

The word ZANMAI is commonly used in Japanese to mean LUXURY, however it is in fact derived from the Sanskrit term “Samadhi”, which refers to the state of consciousness induced by complete meditation.

Its etymology comes from “Sam” (together or integrated), “A” (towards), and “Dha” (to get, to hold). As such, the concept might be understood as the attainment of integration, wholeness, or truth (Samapatti).

A good chef always strives for the true essence of cooking, and we at MCUSTA have designed our HOCHO knives as the perfect tools to help achieve this lofty ideal.
